VolksPC LLC  is a software firm based in California, USA. Our mission is to bring the best of open source Linux desktop technology to a mobile-focused world. While there are efforts to build a fully open source Linux based distribution for phones and tablets, it will struggle to make a significant mainstream impact due to lack of corporate involvement and  a limited application ecosystems. Android on the other hand is already successful in this market and is also based on the open source Linux kernel. So instead of replacing Android, we have taken a simpler approach of  running a Linux desktop environment on top of it.

Vasant Kanchan is the CEO and founder of VolksPC LLC. He is graduate of  Indian Institute of Technology, Madras , B.Tech(EE),  M.Tech(CS) and University of Texas,  Arlington, MS(EE). He has worked at several Silicon Valley companies in leadership positions in areas of computer networking, embedded Linux, digital signal processing (DSP) and telecommunications.
